There was a topic much popularly on the internet before: do you had a friend for ten years? This question has aroused a wide discussion among people. So, I’m going to join in the discussion, and introduce two friends today.
I have known Helen for 21 years, that’s an incredible number, right?
In fact, our parents are colleagues and good friends, our homes were also opposite each other when we were kids, since I can remember, we have been best friends. We have the same school, until she went to senior high school in Beijing. Although we only see each other twice a year, we make sure we get together once every Christmas Eve.
Helen has black hair, two big eyes and wears glasses. Her skin is a little dark and she is of medium stature. Her appearance sounds very ordinary. But Helen always has a clear goal and will work hard for it; this also lets me admire very much. And her personality is very unique:
Helen has been very independent since childhood, because her parents are very busy with their work, she went to school and cooked by herself when she was only 6 years old. When she was 15, she went to senior high school in Beijing by herself. Now she is 21, alone in the United States, studying computers.
Helen loves animals very much; I can say she’s the most animal-loving person I’ve ever met. Her home often like a mini zoo: birds, hamsters, fish, cats, dogs, turtles and so on, all kinds of pets live in harmony in her home.
It was a weekend when we were in junior high school, Our fiend Rachel and I played together at Helen’s house, everything looked like a normal weekend. Then Helen’s mother told Helen, “Helen, please give hospitality to your friend, I need to go out and deal with something.” She turned to us and smiled,” wish you have a good time!” We said thank you and waited for the door to close.
As soon as the door closed, we began to play more relaxed. Suddenly, Helen said, “let’s go, accompany me to buy a dog.” We all turned to her in surprise,” do your parents disagree it?” We all knew that they quarrelled about it for a long time. Helen opened the record of a chat with someone mysteriously, she told us that was the owner of a breeding farm, and she has negotiated the price of dog with the woman.
We spent a long time to get here by taxi, because the farm is in the suburbs. The place was in a remote village. The house looked dirty and shabby, and the ground was covered with mud.
We were a little scared but we plucked up our courage and went into the house full of barking dogs, As soon as we entered the room, we saw a lot of little golden retrievers in cages, Helen picked out a dog and bought dog food, and we left in a hurry.
The shopkeeper sent us back, and I had to hide under the seat because of the overload, although I was tired and scared, I was happy to see the dog’s wet eyes and furry body.
Then Helen hid lucky (the name of her dog) in her bedroom. But because the dog did not adapt to the new environment, the night kept barking. It was finally found by her parents.
Let me introduce another friend of mine.
My friend Kevin is my classmates, I have known him for 10 years.
When I first met Kevin, he was a little fat and short, his appearances are not easy to remember, two years later, all this changed completely, He is about 1.90 meter now and become very thin.
There seemed to be nothing in the world that made Kevin nervous, the head teacher was relieved to let him preside over the class meeting, he can have an improvised but fluent speech without any preparation. Once when Kevin had the highest score in our senior high school, but he doesn’t seem to be working very hard, our teacher asked him to make a speech in front of the whole school. In the middle of the speech, he suddenly put away the manuscript the teacher had prepared for him.
His English is so good that he taught IELTS in a tutorial class during his high school vacation. His college entrance examination scores were among the highest in the province, and as soon as scores were released, the best universities in China, Peking University and others, called Kevin hoping he could go. His dream is to work in the United Nations, now he is working as an intern at the UN’s food and agriculture organization.
Unlike the average high-achieving student, Kevin doesn’t just study hard. Kevin is involved in various student organizations and he also fell in love when he was in high school. During his three years in high school, Kevin’s romantic love story followed after another. Once his ex-girlfriend and his girlfriend had a fight over him; the matter even was known to the director of teaching. puppy love is wrong in the traditional concept in China. All of us thought Kevin would be disciplined, but actually the director of teaching just said, “You have to take your love seriously.” And director even laughed and joked, “Charm is big like when I was younger!” All the teachers like him.
Friendship is precious, especially two friendships of such a long time. For me, good friendship is not just about the similar values, views on life and view of the world. And we can be better people together, I have something to learn from both Helen and Kevin, I hope I can pursue dreams be like them. Sincerely wish us friendship forever.
