I like traveling very much. Traveling can make me feel the local conditions and customs of different places, relax my mind and taste delicious food.
I went to Hunan Province with my roommates in National Day when I was a sophomore. The National Day holiday is the peak tourism season, we used the APP to grab a week but failed to get the right train tickets. Just when we were ready to give up the trip, the night before the holiday, we got the train tickets we wanted.
We set out early the next morning and arrived at our destination — Chenzhou city, Hunan province at noon. We chose a homestay hotel in the suburbs of the city, which is closer to the scenic spots. The host is a couple from Guangdong province and Hunan province, so they settled down in the city on the border of the two provinces and opened a “cat” themed hotel called “time stealing cat”. There are several cats in the hotel, all of which are stray cats adopted by their owners.
We went to the local grassland where there were a lot of cows and horses. We grew up in city and we didn’t know their habits. My friend Alice almost got hit by a cow because she was standing so close to it. I even got kicked by a horse for posing for a photo behind it.
What impressed me most was a scenic spot called “gaoyiling “, which is one of the largest Danxia landform areas in China. However, due to it is surrounded by cliffs, so there are many safety risks, so now the government is preparing to rebuild it, visitors are not allowed in. The landlady suggested that we might try it, so we set out.
The car shuttled across the country road, the sun was shining at noon, looked out the window of a flash of crops, listen to the car radio played the old song, the cool early autumn wind blowing in the face, I feel relaxed.
After half an hour’s drive, we arrived at our destination. The first thing I saw, as the owner of the hotel put it, was the high iron bar blocking the entrance to the attraction. We asked the driver to help us, the driver talking to an old local man for a long time . The old man unlocked the iron gate and agreed us to visit for 30 minutes. We saw the driver waving to us in the distance. The driver said, ‘go and come back. I’ll be waiting for you here.’ Alice and I hurried through a crack in the iron gate.
We ran in excitedly, I looked around and crouched down in horror. There were no fences and the hills were so steep that I felt like I was about to fall. Alice laughed at me as I crouched timidly on the ground. ‘you’re too timorous, aren’t you?’ Alice walked on to higher ground, but my legs were too weak to move, and I crouched where I was. I had to endure the fear of climbing up on my hands and knees, not knowing that my pants were dirty with the dirt on the ground.
I didn’t dare to move a step further: it was too high for me.The big bees all around me, and animal droppings at my hands, but I had too much fear. Thinking back to an hour ago, I was still sad that I couldn’t be here. Now, it’s only been more than ten minutes since I came in, so I couldn’t just give up.
So I plucked up the courage to “crawl” to the edge and let Alice take my picture. I felt that since I dared not go to the top, I would always leave a photo as a souvenir.’ Alice shouted at me.’ go a little further to the edge, the picture doesn’t look good! ”I shivered a little further to the edge, this really is my limit! I think I’m going to fall, clap!” My voice has a cry, even return words also dare not look back. When I had finished taking the picture, I took Alice out of the room as fast as I could, and I didn’t think I dared stay any longer.
It was a very exciting and risky decision, I joked to Alice more than once. ‘I suppose we’ll have to listen to the government.’But the scenery was so beautiful that I regretted not having the courage to climb a little higher so that I could see a more beautiful view.
Although this trip was only 4 days long, it was full of twists and turns and accidents from the beginning. It was an unexpected trip, which left me a deep impression until now. I am glad that I did not waste the vacation at that time.
I hope I can be more brave and see more beautiful scenery in the future.
